When to Buy New vs. Used or Reconditioned
New IBCs are the right choice when regulations, quality standards, or application requirements demand containers with no prior use history.
Hazardous Material Transport
DOT and IATA regulations for hazardous materials often require containers to carry current, valid UN ratings. New IBCs ship with the full original UN certification, ensuring compliance for HAZMAT transportation without additional testing or re-certification.
FDA-Regulated Products
Food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic products that require documented FDA compliance from point of manufacture. New totes provide a complete chain of custody from resin supplier to bottle molder to assembled IBC with no prior contents.
Export & International Shipping
International freight often requires containers with full, undamaged UN markings and certification. New totes meet all IMDG (maritime), IATA (air), and ADR (European road) requirements for international transport of regulated goods.
Customer Brand Standards
When your customers require product delivery in new, unblemished packaging as part of quality specifications or brand standards. Common in automotive, electronics, and premium consumer goods supply chains.
High Specific Gravity Liquids
Products with specific gravity above 1.5 (heavy liquids like concentrated acids, mineral slurries, or dense syrups) require the full wall thickness and structural ratings of a new IBC. Used bottles may have lost wall thickness through wear.
Warranty Requirements
New IBCs carry a manufacturer warranty covering material defects, valve failure, and structural issues. If your application or insurance requires warranty-backed containers, new is the only option.

UN Ratings & Certifications
Understanding UN ratings is critical for selecting the right IBC for hazardous material transport. Here are the ratings we offer.
Packing Group II & III
The most common UN rating for composite IBCs. Approved for non-dangerous goods and dangerous goods classified as Packing Group II (medium danger) and Packing Group III (minor danger). Covers the vast majority of industrial chemicals, solvents, and liquid products that require UN-rated packaging for domestic and international transport.
Packing Group I, II & III
The highest UN performance rating for composite IBCs. Approved for all packing groups including Packing Group I (high danger). Required for more aggressive chemicals, certain corrosives, and materials with higher specific gravity. These totes have thicker walls, reinforced cages, and pass more stringent drop and stack testing.
Composite IBC (Rigid Plastic)
A variation designed for rigid plastic inner receptacles without a steel cage. Used in specific applications where the plastic body provides sufficient structural support. Less common but available for specialized applications.
Available Configurations
New IBCs can be ordered in multiple configurations to match your specific application, discharge requirements, and pallet preferences.
Standard Configuration
The industry-standard setup: HDPE bottle in a galvanized steel cage on a steel or composite pallet. Equipped with a 2" NPS butterfly valve and 6" screw cap. Available in both 275 and 330 gallon sizes. This is the most versatile configuration and serves 90% of all IBC applications.
Ball Valve Configuration
Replaces the standard butterfly valve with a 2" full-port ball valve for applications requiring higher flow rates, more precise flow control, or better sealing performance. Ball valves are preferred for viscous liquids, slurries, and applications where the valve must be fully opened or fully closed.
Cam Lock Discharge
A cam lock fitting replaces or supplements the standard valve, enabling quick-connect/disconnect hose connections without tools. Ideal for chemical transfer, mobile dispensing operations, and any application where the IBC is frequently connected and disconnected from process equipment.
Top-Fill Configurations
Options for the top fill opening include standard 6" screw cap, 8" wide-mouth cap (for easier cleaning and filling of viscous products), breather vent caps (for applications requiring pressure equalization), and dust caps for outdoor storage.
Metal Pallet Base
All-steel pallet base for maximum durability and longest service life. Steel pallets resist rot, insect damage, and moisture absorption. They also provide the highest weight capacity for stacking and are preferred for chemical and food-grade applications where wood contamination is a concern.
Composite Pallet Base
Plastic-wood composite pallet base offering a balance of durability and weight. Composite pallets are rot-resistant, do not splinter, and comply with ISPM-15 international shipping requirements without heat treatment or fumigation.
Food-Grade IBC Totes
Our food-grade new IBCs meet the most stringent regulatory and third-party certification requirements for safe food and beverage contact.
FDA 21 CFR 177.1520 Compliance
The HDPE resin used in food-grade IBC bottles complies with FDA regulations for direct food contact. This covers olefin polymers used as articles or components of articles intended for food contact, including containers for liquid food products.
NSF/ANSI 61 Certification
For potable water applications, select IBC models carry NSF/ANSI 61 certification, confirming that the container materials do not contribute contaminants to drinking water above health-based limits established by the EPA.
Kosher & Halal Compatible
New, unused food-grade IBCs can be certified for Kosher and Halal applications since they have never contacted non-compliant materials. Documentation from the resin and bottle manufacturer is available to support religious dietary compliance requirements.
SQF & BRC Supply Chain Compliance
Our new food-grade IBCs support Safe Quality Food (SQF) and British Retail Consortium (BRC) packaging standards. We provide certificates of analysis, material safety data sheets, and supplier traceability documentation required by third-party food safety auditors.
